Arsenal beat german second division side Nuremberg 5-3 in a pre-season friendly. Gabriel Jesusthe Gunners’ new signing, made his debut with a brace and was the star of the match.

After the match, Mikel Arteta, coach of the English side, highlighted the work of the Brazilian and was excited about the duo that could form with the young Eddie Nketiah during the 2022-23 season.

“It’s what he creates. And the understanding with Nketiah has also been good. It’s something we want to have as an option, especially this year where there are still five substitutions,” the coach began.

In the same vein, he added: “We want to have alternatives to play in different ways. And it’s great that they can do it together. We’re looking to practice things we want to do during pre-season. That’s why we put them together.

“We are going to have a lot of games and we need to look for different alternatives, try different things. The truth is that it’s great that they are both in excellent form. It’s a necessary position for us, for a long time we’ve been trying to improve there…. We are happy to have signed Gabriel,” he closed.
