The Minas Gerais State Football Federation (FMF) has punished Atletico Mineiro’s mascot with a suspension for his behavior after Cruzeiro’s goal in the classic match last weekend.

Cruzeiro opened the scoring in the 70th minute thanks to a goal from Vitor Roque. He and his teammates jumped over the barricades to celebrate with their fans. Galo Doido didn’t like that and ran to the Cruzeiro players, raising his hand to block their way.

Galo Doido was not satisfied with the away team’s opening goal.

Galo Doido has since been suspended by the FMF and will not be available for next weekend’s game against Caldense. The penalty was announced in a statement signed by the director of the FMF, which said: “(…) in the match between Clube Atletico Mineiro and Cruzeiro Esporte Clube, held on 03.03.2022, spirit wrestler Galo Doido, after Cruzeiro Esporte Clube’s goal, ran towards the opposing team’s players, making a threatening gesture.”

The image of this mascot chicken quickly went viral on the internet. In the end, Atletico won with a score of 2-1 and jumped to the top of the Campeonato Mineiro tournament. Cruzeiro ranked 3rd with 3 points less.
