NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion field hockey team received the No. 3 seed in the BIG EAST Championship semifinals and will take on No. 2 seed UConn on Friday, Nov. 5 at 4:00 p.m. ET in Storrs, Connecticut. The Monarchs (13-4, 5-2 BIG EAST) enter next week winners of nine of their last 11 matches.
The BIG EAST Championship title match will take place on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 1:00 p.m.
The tournament champion receives the league’s automatic berth into the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship. UConn has won the last nine consecutive championship titles dating back to 2012.
“I’m excited to get to the Big East Championship and get another shot at these teams,” said ODU head coach Andrew Griffiths. “The best thing about this team is that we have had strong performances from different players each game and so many players have been stepping up to make a difference. We are playing as a real team, and that’s fun to be a part of.”
