Welsh people Gareth Bale, who just signed with Carlos Vela’s LAFC but has not been formally presented yet, was at Banc of California Stadium on Friday to cheer on his new team in Los Angeles derby against LA Galaxy by Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez.
Wearing a white shirt and always smiling, Bale stepped out onto the pitch in the pre-match warm-up and greeted the LAFC fans who greeted him with a standing ovation.
The former Real Madrid player also heard the first chants of his name from supporters (The 3252), stands of the team’s supporters.
LAFC announced on Friday that Bale’s official presentation and the first press conference in Los Angeles (USA) will take place on Monday.
Five-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid, Bale, 32 years old, brought Wales to their second World Cup in June by beating Ukraine in the Qatar 2022 play-offs.
With his arrival in the MLS, Bale joined a team that to date, the best in the league this season and leader of the Western Conference.
This is not the only recent move by LAFC, as Steve Cherundolo’s side also announced in June the signing of Giorgio Chiellini, a defensive icon for Juventus and the Italian national team.
The signing of Bale and Chiellini spurs a major MLS project for LAFC, who have made big moves in recent weeks and also recently signed an extension their star player, the Mexican striker Carlos Vela.
